Founded in 1950 in Sovigliana Vinci (FI), Berni Srl is an outstanding company in the distribution of flooring, wall coverings, and bathroom furniture. With over 70 years of experience, a turnover exceeding 50 million euros, 110 employees, and 15 operational locations, Berni Srl boasts an extensive network that serves more than 1,200 active clients worldwide.

The company philosophy is based on high quality and on the authenticity of Made in Italy products, ensuring a product selection that meets the needs of both private customers and industry professionals. Architects, interior designers, and planners can find not only top-quality products in Berni’s stores, but also specialist consultancy, advanced technical expertise, and high-level organisational services.

In addition to its commercial success, Berni Srl stands out for its social commitment. It is a member of the Club Impresa Amica del Meyer, an initiative connecting the profit and non-profit sectors to raise funds in order to support the Meyer Children’s Hospital in Florence.

The construction of the new ROSSS warehouse allowed Berni Srl to centralise the goods flow from its 15 sales points into a single warehouse.

Berni Srl's challenges

The main challenge faced by Berni Srl before the construction of the new warehouse was the need to develop a logistics solution that could concentrate a variety of completely different and highly customised storage systems into a single structure. The goal was to ensure optimal and highly efficient management of the material flows of its marketed products, which include a wide range of items such as flooring, wall coverings, and bathroom furniture.

This need arose from the requirement to handle items with heterogeneous characteristics, each with specific space, weight, and storage method requirements. An integrated system of such complexity not only required careful planning, but also the adoption of advanced technologies and tailor-made solutions to effectively meet the diverse operational and logistical needs of the company.

Creating an infrastructure like this represented a tough technical challenge, but above all a strategic step to improve company productivity, optimise processes, and strengthen Berni Srl’s position as a leader in the sector.

What ROSSS did for Berni Srl

In order to achieve the goal set by the customer, ROSSS designed three different and highly customised storage systems:

Customised internal pallet racks:

  • Configured with racks, shelves, dividers, and perforated grates to manage a variety of items (furniture, tiles, parquet, heated towel rails, shower trays, profiles, and skirting boards).
  • Load capacity up to 2400 kg per level, ensuring maximum efficiency and safety.

Galvanised external pallet racks with pressed grating:

  • Designed to withstand weather conditions, with a load capacity of up to 1200 kg per level.
  • Ideal for pallets of variable sizes.

External cantilever racks with galvanised canopy:

  • Perfect for bulky materials with no storage constraints.
  • Each arm supports a maximum load of 600 kg, ensuring flexibility and strength.

Thanks to these innovative solutions, Berni Srl achieved significant benefits:

  • Increased productivity due to more efficient logistics management.
  • Centralised logistics management for all retail locations in Tuscany, simplifying operational flows and improving market responsiveness.
