Modena Terminal, a company of the BPER Banca Group specialising in integrated logistics, offers tailored solutions for the custody and handling of all types of goods.

Its cheese warehouse represents a center of excellence for the aging of Parmigiano Reggiano and Grana Padano, where each wheel is handled with utmost care to preserve its authenticity and quality.

Modena Terminal’s needs: greater safety and increased capacity

The 2012 earthquake in Emilia marked a turning point for Modena Terminal, which chose to completely renovate its aging warehouse.
The renovation included full compliance of the structure to the most recent seismic-resistance regulations, ensuring maximum safety even in the event of future seismic events.

At the same time, the company modernised its equipment and internal organisation, with the goal of optimising aging operations and increasing storage capacity.

ROSSS’s solution for Modena Terminal

To meet these needs, ROSSS designed and built a tailor-made Tree Cheese rack for Modena Terminal, able to store up to 220,000 wheels of Parmigiano Reggiano and Grana Padano. The shelving, 6.7 meters high, is built with columns able to support up to 2,565 kg, ensuring structural strength, stability, and seismic safety.

Thanks to this Tree Cheese solution, Modena Terminal could optimise stock management, guaranteeing maximum safety, traceability, and ease of handling cheese wheels.

Integration with ING. Ferretti’s automatic systems

The Tree Cheese scalera has been integrated with the automatic machinery of Ing. Ferretti, to better coordinate all operations for handling cheese wheels. Devices such as P.R.A. Double, C.S.F. Traditional, the P11 lifting bench, and C.S.F. 022 ensure that wheel quality is preserved over time, simplifying every phase of the aging process. To ensure consistently optimal performance, Modena Terminal also relies on the scheduled inspection service offered by Ing. Ferretti to its partners.
